Smart Panel
It’s a wall-mounted e-ink display that connects over Wi-Fi and shows real-time information for a local subway stop — the next arriving trains, service status and delays — without having to pull out a phone or open an app. Turn the dial and another screen gives the local weather forecast.
I wanted it to work more like an appliance than just another screen: glance at it on the way out the door, get the information you need, and move on. My minimal design for this 3D printed wall mount was created with Blender.
The e-ink display makes it readable, unobtrusive and almost paper-like, while the simple interface keeps the whole thing intentionally minimal.
A very small piece of technology solving a very specific everyday problem — which is usually my favorite kind of project.
