It’s a wall-mounted e-ink display that connects over WiFi and shows real-time information for a local subway stop — the next arriving trains, service status and delays — without having to pull out a phone or open an app. Turn the dial and another screen gives the local weather forecast.
I wanted it to work more like an appliance than just another screen: Glance at it on the way out the door, get the information you need and move on. My minimal design for this 3D-printed wall mount was created with Blender.
The e-ink display makes it readable, unobtrusive and almost paper-like, while the simple interface keeps the whole thing intentionally minimal.
A very small piece of technology solving a very specific everyday problem — which is usually my favorite kind of project.
